Friends of Cookeville/Putnam Co. Animals is a 501c3 non-profit entity. Founded in 2004, our objective is to raise public awareness in tending to lost and homeless animals within the community, as well as educate citizens on the importance of spay/neuter programs. Our overall mission is to: Raise public awareness of the increasing numbers of unwanted animals being born in our community, initiate and support community education efforts that emphasize the importance of spaying/neutering pets, and promote pet adoptions at the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, and support the Shelter and other animal welfare entities in various ways.
Our very active and dedicated Board of Directors meets weekly to coordinate activities and events. Through a myriad of fundraising events, we have been able to donate approximately $750,000 to the building of our new Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter. This includes: * The purchase of a 10 acre parcel of property named the P.E.T. Care Campus * The architectural design of the new shelter * All interior office, exam room, pet bathing/grooming furnishings * 32 puppy suites * 36 kitty condos & kitty playroom * 52 doggie dorms
Our fundraising continues as we support the Shelter Volunteer program and various on-going needs of the new facility.
We are grateful to our City Council, City Manager, County Commissioners and everyone in the community who believed in this project and donated in so many ways to make this $2.1 million dollar, state-of-the-art shelter a reality!
